Kenyan internationals Anthony Akumu, Austin Odhiambo, and striker Masoud Juma are set to return home on Sunday, March 8, after their Beirut-based club Nejmeh SC granted them permission to leave amid deteriorating security conditions in the Middle East.

The trio, who ply their trade in Lebanon, were allowed to travel back to Kenya as concerns grow over safety in the region. Sources indicate the club made the decision as a precautionary measure following the escalating situation.

Nejmeh SC is one of Lebanon’s top football clubs, and the Kenyan players have been key members of the squad. However, with uncertainty surrounding the regional security outlook, arrangements were made to facilitate their safe return.

The players are expected to land in Kenya on Sunday, where they will await further communication from their club regarding the resumption of league activities.

Their return comes at a time when several foreign-based players across different leagues are reassessing travel and safety plans due to the worsening crisis in parts of the Middle East.
