Detectives in Nairobi CBD have launched a manhunt for a gang that broke into an electronics shop and stole goods worth more than KSh16 million in a daring overnight raid.
Targeted Break-In at Electronics Shop
Police say the suspects targeted Mr Bingo Computers located at Twiga Towers.
CCTV footage shows the gang gaining access to the premises at around 1am on Saturday in what investigators believe was a well-coordinated operation.
CCTV Captures Heist
The footage reveals the suspects forcing their way into the shop before ransacking it within minutes.
They are seen carrying sacks and systematically unpacking computers and other electronics from boxes before loading them for transport.
A vehicle parked outside the building was later used to ferry the stolen items.
High-Value Items Stolen
Among the goods stolen were over 500 computers and more than 100 iPhones, alongside other high-value electronic accessories.
The shop owner, Moses Mwangi, popularly known as Mr Bingo, described the incident as devastating.
“They have taken everything… over 500 computers, over 100 iPhones,” he said.
Guards Possibly Drugged
Earlier CCTV footage captured at about 9:59pm shows a man believed to be the ringleader engaging security guards in conversation.
However, about an hour later, one of the guards appears incapacitated, with the suspect seen dragging him away.
Police suspect the guards may have been drugged to facilitate the break-in.
Business Owner Left Devastated
Mwangi said the burglary has left him in financial distress, noting that most of the stock had been acquired on credit.
He expressed shock at how his two-year-old business was dismantled within a short time.
Investigations Ongoing
Detectives at Central Police Station say investigations are at an advanced stage as they work to identify and arrest the suspects and recover the stolen goods.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over security in Nairobi’s business district, especially for high-value retail outlets operating in the CBD.
