The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a traffic advisory following flooding and silt deposition along sections of the Mai Mahiu–Suswa–Narok (B7) Road.

Flooding Disrupts Key Transport Corridor

The incident, which occurred on the evening of April 16, 2026, affected areas around Kedong Ranch near Suswa, disrupting traffic flow along the busy highway.

KeNHA confirmed that emergency response teams are on the ground working to clear the affected sections and restore normal movement.

Hazardous Sections Identified

Motorists have been warned to exercise extreme caution, particularly along the stretch between Naivasha Inland Container Depot (Km 14) and Suswa Ranch (Km 39), which has been identified as highly dangerous due to flooding and silt buildup.

Safety Advisory to Motorists

KeNHA has cautioned drivers against attempting to cross flooded sections, warning that vehicles risk being swept away or getting stuck.

Motorists are also urged to:

  • Follow directions from police officers and traffic marshals
  • Avoid unnecessary travel through the affected area
  • Stay updated on traffic advisories

Alternative Route Recommended

To ease congestion and enhance safety, the authority has advised motorists to use the Narok–Njoro–Nakuru (B18) Road as a safer alternative route.

Restoration Efforts Ongoing

KeNHA reiterated its commitment to restoring normal operations as quickly as possible, assuring the public that efforts are underway to clear debris and ensure the road is safe for use.

The situation remains under close monitoring as authorities continue to manage the disruption.
