Kenya Airways has diverted several flights and issued a warning over delays after low visibility disrupted operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
In a customer update released on April 10, 2026, the airline confirmed that both departures and arrivals had been affected by the adverse weather conditions, forcing operational adjustments to maintain safety standards.
According to the airline, some flights were redirected to Moi International Airport as a precautionary measure.
“We wish to inform our customers to expect some flight delays for departures and arrivals due to low visibility affecting operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO),” the airline said in a statement.
Kenya Airways emphasized that flight diversions are a standard safety protocol designed to protect passengers and crew.
“Some of our flights have been diverted to Moi International Airport, Mombasa. Flight diversion is a necessary safety precaution to ensure the safety of all onboard and remains our highest priority,” the airline added.
The carrier also apologised for the inconvenience caused, urging passengers to remain patient as the situation is being closely monitored.
“Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and will adjust our flight network and operations as soon as the weather conditions improve,” the statement read.
Kenya Airways further reassured travellers that normal operations would resume once visibility improves, thanking customers for their understanding during the disruption.
