Popular Kenyan music group Mbogi Genje has had several of its top music videos removed from YouTube amid an ongoing disagreement linked to the group’s management.
Some of the songs reportedly affected by the takedown include Giz Giz, Mtu Bad, Ngumi Mbwegze, Ikijipa, Full Degree, Morio Mbwakni, Zimelipuka, Kuja Mbaya and Wamocho.
The removals have sparked concern among fans of the Gengetone collective, many of whom noticed the songs disappearing from streaming platforms over recent days.
Sources linked to the group indicate that the issue is connected to an ongoing management dispute involving rights and control over the music catalogue.
Mbogi Genje rose to prominence during the Gengetone wave with street-inspired hits that earned the group a massive youth following across Kenya.
The takedown of the videos has also reignited conversations online about ownership rights, management contracts and revenue control within Kenya’s music industry.
Fans have continued to express hope that the dispute will be resolved and the songs restored to streaming platforms.
