The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested a woman in connection with the alleged improper use of social media following an intelligence-led operation in the Kazandani area of Mombasa County.
According to the DCI, the suspect, identified as Halima Ngache, also known as Princess Halima, was apprehended after investigations allegedly linked her to an X (formerly Twitter) account accused of publishing sensitive information concerning the movements of protected persons.
Investigators say the posts are being examined as part of an ongoing probe into a potential threat to national security.
The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing processing and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
In a statement, the DCI reminded Kenyans that although the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression, the right must be exercised responsibly and within the limits of the law.
The agency further urged members of the public to refrain from sharing information that could compromise the safety of protected persons or incite public unrest, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding national security.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the specific content under investigation, and the allegations against the suspect remain subject to determination by the court.
