The man captured in viral videos circulating on social media has been identified as Vincent Manoah, a nurse from Vihiga County, who says he was falsely accused and assaulted by a group of women in Nairobi’s South B area.
According to Vincent, the incident occurred on Thursday morning as he was heading to Kenyatta University to sit for an examination.
He said he had spent the previous night at an Airbnb and was rushing to the university when several women called out to him.
Vincent said the women appeared to be trying to sell him something, but because he was focused on getting to his examination, he ignored them and continued walking.
He maintained that he is a Christian and had no interaction with the women before the incident.
According to his account, the women began insulting him before suddenly shouting “mwizi, mwizi” (thief), attracting attention from members of the public.
He alleged that they then caught up with him and falsely accused him of spending the night with one of them, demanding that he pay them.
Vincent insists he had never met or interacted with the women before.
During the confrontation, he claimed one of the women grabbed his wallet and fled while the others assaulted him.
He said he chose not to fight back because he understood the sensitivity surrounding physical confrontations involving women.
Police officers who were on patrol responded to the scene and intervened, bringing the incident under control.
The matter was later reported at South B Police Station, where two of the women were arrested.
They remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
