A football fan was left distraught after discovering that his car had been stolen while he attended the World Cup Qualifiers match between Harambee Stars and Gabon at Nyayo Stadium.
According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the theft occurred on Kisauni Road, behind Nairobi West Hospital, where the fan had parked his vehicle before heading to the stadium.
The man had parked his silver Toyota IST, registration number KBN 093B, at around 3:40 pm but was met with a shocking surprise when he returned after the match at approximately 7:10 pm—his car was missing.
“Still healing from a 2-1 loss to the Aubameyang-led Gabonese, the man returned to pick his car at minutes past 7 pm only to find it missing,” the DCI reported.
The distressed car owner immediately reported the incident at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, presenting all necessary documents to prove ownership of the vehicle.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter, with DCI Lang’ata taking the lead in efforts to recover the stolen car.
“Having provided sufficient proof of ownership of the vehicle to the police, the car has been circulated as stolen, with DCI Lang’ata leading the investigation,” detectives confirmed.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding the vehicle’s whereabouts to come forward as investigations continue.
