The directors of Omnicare Medical Limited, the company behind Body by Design clinic, along with one of their surgeons, will remain in custody until April 15, when a ruling on their bail application will be made.

Lilian Edna Wanjiru and George Wakaria Njoroge, both directors of the clinic, and Robert Maweu Mutula, a surgeon, have been charged with manslaughter following the death of Lucy Wambui Ng’ang’a. Wambui died in October 2024 after undergoing liposuction and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) at the facility.

An autopsy report revealed that her intestines were perforated during surgery, which resulted in multiple organ failure. The prosecution has opposed the release of the three on bail or bond, arguing that “the charges they face carry a life sentence and that there is a high likelihood they may interfere with witnesses.”
