Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has made explosive claims surrounding the death of former Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla, suggesting the top military official was assassinated.

Speaking in Mwingi Town, Kitui County, on Sunday, April 13, Kalonzo alleged that Ogolla’s involvement during the 2022 General Election may have made him a target for certain individuals within President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.

“He was sent to the Bomas of Kenya by the National Security Council during the last election, and there were people who vowed to deal with him afterward,” Kalonzo stated.

“There is no way General Ogolla wasn’t going to lead our military—and that’s why he was taken out. No Kenyan believes the engine failure story. General Francis Ogolla was taken out!”

Kalonzo appeared to completely dismiss the official explanation that a helicopter engine failure caused the crash that killed Ogolla. Instead, he is demanding a full, independent investigation into the incident.

“What we’ve seen is just a whitewash. Unless an independent body—possibly even Parliament—investigates this, no one will believe that account,” he said. “These recurring helicopter crashes must stop. We need transparency.”

The former Vice President’s remarks have added fuel to growing public suspicion surrounding recent military aviation accidents and called into question the safety protocols and accountability of high-level military transport operations.
