Kenya Power announces expected outages on Thursday in 7 counties

Kenya Power has issued a statement confirming it was experiencing a system issue affecting purchase of tokens by its customers

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions set to affect several areas across seven counties on Thursday, April 18, 2025. The outages will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and residents are being urged to plan accordingly.

The counties affected are Nairobi, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Meru, Kiambu, and Mombasa.

🔌 Here’s a breakdown of the affected areas:

📍 Nairobi

  • – General Mathenge Drive
  • – Mpaka Road
  • – Parts of 2nd & 3rd Parklands
  • – Eldama Ravine
  • – Suswa Road
  • – Kusi Lane and surrounding areas

📍 Kajiado

  • – St. Patrick, Mwalimu Road, Oleteyani, Ilmasin, Olooses, Kisamis
  • – Homeboys, Lingaloj, Ilidoriak, Tinga, Esonorua, Matasia
  • – Nkoroi, Olesurutia, Tajiri Road, Merisho and adjacent areas

📍 Uasin Gishu

  • – Mbingwa, Ivigwa, Sango, Likuyani, Frank, and Lugulu

📍 Kakamega

  • – Butere Market, Shashiala Market, Maondo, Khomailo
  • – Mapole, Eshishiebo Market, Emanyulia Market

📍 Meru

  • – Nkoune, Mwiriene Primary, Meru Teachers College
  • – Mwithumwilu Secondary, Kaaga Girls High, Mpakone Village
  • – Kaaga, LR Petrol Station, Gatimene Gardens, Runogone
  • – KEMU University, Tuliza FM, Gakurine, Kiandiu, Chungu
  • – Kwiriro Market, Kaithe Market, Kithoka, Freds Academy
  • – Thiiri Cultural Centre, Bishop Lawi, Imathiu Primary & Secondary
  • – Kithoka Ripples and surrounding customers

📍 Kiambu

  • – Magajo Primary, Farainya, St. Paul Gatuanyaga, Magana Primary
  • – Munyu Girls, Munyu Dispensary, Munyu Police Station
  • – Githima Shopping Centre, Komo S/Centre, Juja Farm (Athi, Mukuyu-Ini, Kwa Ruhi, Kwa Murage)
  • – Also affected: Fresha Dairies, Palm House Dairies, County Pride
  • – Thakwa, Wanjo, Githunguri Shops, AP Canteen, Beta Care, Equity Bank, Shell Githunguri

📍 Mombasa

  • – Husein Dairy, Kimbunga, Marimani, Voroni
  • – Mwakirunge Dumpsite, Mwakirunge Primary, Vifwanjoni
  • – Bwagamoyo, KAA, John Ria and nearby areas

Plan Ahead

Kenya Power has advised residents in the listed areas to prepare for the interruptions and make alternative arrangements where necessary.

The utility company says the maintenance is aimed at improving the quality and reliability of power supply.
