Detectives in Laikipia have arrested a man suspected of orchestrating a large-scale land fraud scheme involving deceitful acquisition of land registration documents. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in ongoing investigations into rising land fraud cases across the country.
Upon his arrest, the suspect was found in possession of 135 title deeds, each bearing different names and originating from various land registries. The documents were recovered from his car, which has since been detained by authorities for further forensic examination due to its suspected involvement in the illicit transactions.
The man is currently in custody as detectives process him pending arraignment in court. Investigators have confirmed that the recovered title deeds are being securely held as exhibits and will play a crucial role in the unfolding probe.
According to police, land fraud cases are becoming increasingly complex. Some of the forged title deeds have already been used to secure loans from multiple financial institutions, complicating recovery efforts and deepening the legal entanglements involved.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts aimed at dismantling land fraud cartels and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
