Police in Kondele, Kisumu County, have arrested a woman for allegedly scalding her 17-year-old son with hot water after he reportedly stole and sold 2 kilograms of maize from their home in Manyatta.

The boy, a Form Three student at St. Loyola Magadi Secondary School, suffered severe burns and is currently receiving treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).

Kondele Location Chief Maurice Ajwang confirmed the arrest, stating that the woman confessed to boiling water and pouring it on her son as punishment. She was taken into custody on Thursday evening and is being held at Kondele Police Station as investigations continue.

Authorities have assured the public that legal action will be taken once investigations are concluded. Meanwhile, the boy remains under medical care as he recovers from his injuries.
