The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams officially began across the country on Monday, marking a key milestone in Kenya’s education calendar.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has assured the public that all systems are in place to guarantee a transparent and seamless examination process for the 2025 session.

Over 1.1 Million Students Sit for KJSEA

While supervising the opening of exam papers at Kibra Deputy County Commissioner’s Office, Education Principal Secretary Prof. Julius Bitok confirmed that the ministry is fully prepared for the national exercise.

“We are pleased to announce that we’re ready to begin KPSEA and KJSEA exams. It’s the first time we are having 1.1 million learners of KJSEA who will be joining Grade 10,” said Prof. Bitok.

He added that all stakeholders, including invigilators, security officers, and school administrators, had been mobilised to ensure smooth administration of the exams.

Government Releases Funds and Ensures Readiness

Prof. Bitok further stated that the government has released all necessary funds to support the examinations and urged teachers and invigilators to carry out their duties with honesty and professionalism.

“Nobody should have any excuses for not being facilitated to administer. We have enough spaces in high schools to accommodate Grade 9 learners transitioning into Grade 10,” he said.

The Ministry of Education has also assured parents that adequate security has been deployed across exam centres to safeguard materials and uphold exam integrity.

Smooth Transition to Grade 10

This year’s exams mark a crucial step in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) rollout, as KJSEA learners will be the first cohort transitioning to Grade 10 under the new system.

KNEC officials reiterated their commitment to fairness, credibility, and efficiency in managing the assessments.
