Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of using his newly rekindled ties with former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to allegedly divide the Mount Kenya region.
Speaking in Kirinyaga during a church event on Sunday, Gachagua claimed that President Ruto’s alliance with Moi was politically motivated and aimed at undermining the unity of central Kenya.
The outspoken former Deputy President vowed to resist any political schemes designed to weaken the region’s solidarity, warning that he would soon expose leaders he claims have “betrayed Mount Kenya.”
Gachagua’s remarks come days after President Ruto and KANU Chairman Gideon Moi agreed to work together under a broad-based government framework during a meeting in Kabarak, Nakuru County — a move that has sparked intense political debate across the country.
The Mount Kenya region remains politically charged as leaders jostle for influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
