A family in Makongeni estate, Thika, is demanding answers following the mysterious death of a 23-year-old man who reportedly fell from the fifth floor of his apartment during a police operation.

The deceased, identified as Dec Muniko Paul, is said to have died on Thursday evening after police officers from Makongeni Police Station raided his residence, located less than a kilometre from the station, on what authorities have described as an undisclosed mission.

According to the family, Dec was inside the apartment with two other people when officers stormed the house. During the ensuing commotion, he allegedly fell from the fifth floor to the ground, sustaining fatal injuries.

His body was later taken to General Kago Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination revealed that he died from blunt force trauma caused by multiple injuries.

Relatives have raised serious concerns over the circumstances surrounding the incident, alleging that Dec may have been pushed by police officers. They are now calling for an independent investigation by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and other relevant agencies to establish what transpired during the raid.

The family has expressed doubts over the ongoing investigations being conducted at Thika West Police Station, insisting that an impartial probe is necessary to uncover the truth.

Despite the unresolved questions surrounding his death, the family plans to transport Dec’s body to Migori County for burial as they continue to seek justice.
