Apple Plans Foldable iPhone Launch in 2026

Apple is reportedly planning a major shift in its iPhone release strategy, with industry sources claiming the tech giant will unveil its first-ever foldable iPhone in 2026, while delaying the launch of the standard iPhone 18 models until 2027.

According to supply-chain reports and industry insiders, the move would represent Apple’s most significant iPhone design change in years, signaling the company’s long-anticipated entry into the foldable smartphone market.

The foldable iPhone is expected to debut as part of Apple’s premium lineup, likely alongside the iPhone Pro models, as the company focuses on high-margin devices equipped with advanced technology and premium features.

Although specific design details remain limited, analysts suggest Apple has spent years refining key foldable components, including hinge durability, crease minimization, and long-term reliability. Apple is known for waiting until new technologies mature before introducing them to its product lineup, a strategy it appears to be following with foldable displays.

Meanwhile, the reported postponement of the standard iPhone 18 series indicates Apple may be moving away from its traditional single annual September launch in favor of a staggered release cycle. This approach would allow the foldable iPhone to take center stage without competing directly with more affordable models.

Industry watchers believe the foldable iPhone will primarily target early adopters and premium buyers, while the delayed standard iPhone 18 models will appeal to consumers seeking a familiar design at a lower price point.

If confirmed, the strategy could reshape Apple’s iPhone launch calendar and intensify competition in the high-end foldable smartphone market.
