Kenyan YouTuber and prankster Vindee has remained committed to his new in-real-life (IRL) live streaming format across Nairobi, even as some early broadcasts attract limited audience interaction.
Vindee, who runs the popular Vindee Official YouTube channel, is best known for his prank videos and comedy skits that have earned him a loyal following across Kenya. Recently, he shifted gears to try IRL live streaming, a format that involves walking through public spaces while broadcasting live to viewers.
His streams have taken him through Nairobi CBD, Juja town, nightlife hotspots, and university areas such as JKUAT, where he interacts with passersby and shares real-time experiences with his audience.
The move was inspired by the visit of American streamer IShowSpeed, whose high-energy IRL streams in Kenya attracted millions of views and sparked renewed interest in the format among local content creators.
While Vindee’s early IRL streams have recorded low chat activity, a circulating clip showing a mostly quiet live chat triggered mixed reactions online. Some users poked fun at the moment, but many fans quickly came to his defence, noting that building momentum with live content takes time.
Supporters praised Vindee for staying consistent and experimenting with new formats, arguing that every successful streamer experiences a slow start before gaining traction.
