Televangelist Lucy Natasha has announced the expansion of her Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) ministry to South Sudan, just weeks after suspending physical church services at her Nairobi branch.
The development follows Natasha’s recent decision to move her Nairobi-based congregation fully online, citing venue-related challenges.
In a notice shared on her official social media platforms in January, the preacher confirmed that ECC would no longer hold in-person services at the Biashara Plaza Rooftop, a venue that had hosted the church for several years.
“Important notice. Starting this Sunday, January 11, we will not meet at Biashara Plaza Rooftop due to venue challenges. All services will continue online until further notice,” read part of her statement.
Despite the closure of the physical Nairobi location, Natasha on Sunday, February 1, unveiled plans to officially launch ECC in South Sudan, describing the move as part of the ministry’s growth.
“God will do the impossible in your life and shut the haters up, in the name of Jesus! Join us for the Grand Opening of Empowerment Christian Church (ECC), South Sudan,” she wrote.
According to the announcement, the new church branch will be located in Gudele, Juba, at Jubek Secondary School. Pastor Rina was named as the resident pastor, with contact details shared for congregants seeking more information.
The move has sparked mixed reactions online, coming at a time when the preacher has transitioned her Kenyan congregation to virtual services while expanding the ministry’s footprint beyond the country.
