A 23-year-old woman was found dead in her house following an alleged domestic altercation with her boyfriend in Kayole, Nairobi, police have confirmed.
The victim, identified as Ann Muthoni Ngunjiri, was discovered lying on her bed with a towel stuffed in her mouth, while her blood-stained clothes were found beside the body. Police also recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack at the scene.
According to investigators, the body had a visible stab wound to the left eye, and blood was seen oozing from her mouth at the time of discovery. The incident was reported on Sunday, February 1.
Police said the suspect, believed to be the woman’s boyfriend, was missing when officers arrived at the scene. The body was moved to the mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Nairobi police commander George Seda confirmed that detectives have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is being sought for questioning as investigations continue.
The incident adds to growing concerns over domestic violence cases in the city, with authorities urging residents to report disputes early to prevent fatal outcomes.
