A 40-year-old public health worker was killed in a violent attack while walking to his home in the Nyambera area of Kisii Town, police have confirmed.
The victim, identified as Geoffrey Oruru, was attacked on Monday night as he entered his compound. Police said he was confronted by unknown assailants, who fatally injured him before fleeing the scene.
The motive of the attack remains unclear, and detectives have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Oruru was a public health officer attached to Keumbu Hospital, where colleagues described him as dedicated to his work.
His body was moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination and further police procedures.
Police have urged members of the public with information that could assist investigations to come forward.
