Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has ordered an investigation into allegations surrounding the credibility of some degrees issued at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
Probe Triggered by Allegations
Ogamba said the directive follows claims circulating on social and mainstream media that have raised concerns about the authenticity of some graduands from the institution.
Commission Tasked with Investigation
The CS has tasked the Commission for University Education with conducting a comprehensive probe into the matter.
The commission is expected to verify whether all individuals who graduated were properly registered students and whether they met the academic requirements for the degrees awarded.
Focus on Academic Integrity
According to Ogamba, the investigation will also examine whether due academic procedures were followed before the degrees were conferred.
He emphasised that maintaining integrity in higher education institutions is critical.
Call for Accountability
The CS reiterated that accountability and transparency remain top priorities in the management of universities, noting that any irregularities uncovered will be addressed appropriately.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to shed light on the credibility concerns and restore public confidence in the institution’s academic processes.
