Detectives in Mbita Sub-county are investigating a tragic incident in which a six-year-old boy was allegedly killed by his father during a domestic dispute.

Fatal Attack in Nyasumbi Village

The incident occurred on the morning of April 1, 2026, in Nyasumbi village.

Police who visited the scene established that the minor sustained severe head injuries after being attacked.

Authorities allege the suspect used a jembe to repeatedly strike the child.

Second Victim Hospitalised

In the same incident, another victim was also attacked and is currently admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Suspect on the Run

Police say the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack, and a manhunt has been launched to trace and arrest him.

Evidence Recovered

Investigators recovered the suspected murder weapon at the scene and secured it as evidence.

Crime scene personnel processed the area before the child’s body was moved to Mbita Sub-county Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Investigations Ongoing

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with detectives continuing investigations to establish what led to the fatal incident.

Authorities have condemned the act, even as they intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
