A police officer attached to a special unit in Nairobi has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a member of the public in Makadara Sub-County.

Officer Arrested After Complaint

According to police, the constable—based at Pangani Police Station and attached to the Nairobi North Sub-Region—was apprehended on April 13, 2026, following a complaint filed at Industrial Area Police Station.

Gun Threat at Wine and Spirits Shop

The incident reportedly occurred on April 12 at around 7:30 p.m. in the Land Mawe area within Makadara.

Police say the officer confronted a man at a local wine and spirits shop, where he allegedly drew a pistol and threatened to shoot him.

The victim managed to escape unharmed and later reported the matter to authorities.

Weapon Recovered

Responding officers from Industrial Area Police Station visited the scene and disarmed the suspect.

A Ceska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition was recovered and secured as evidence.

Investigations Ongoing

The motive behind the officer’s actions remains unclear.

The suspect is currently being held at Industrial Area Police Station as investigations continue, with further administrative action expected.

Rising Concern Over Police Misconduct

The incident comes amid growing concern over a surge in cases involving police officers in criminal activities.

Authorities maintain that internal mechanisms are in place to address misconduct and ensure accountability within the service.
