Police in Nairobi’s Umoja area have launched investigations into the death of a 33-year-old man who drowned in a water-filled pit at an abandoned building.
The deceased, identified as Rufus Kironji, was found submerged in a pit filled with water adjacent to an abandoned building near his home in Umoja One on Saturday afternoon.
Rushed to Hospital but Pronounced Dead
According to police, members of the public pulled Kironji from the water and rushed him to Penda Hospital in Umoja I for emergency treatment.
However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police Investigating Circumstances
Officers from Buruburu Police Station visited both the hospital and the scene as part of the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicated that the deceased had no visible physical injuries.
Crime scene investigators documented and processed the area before the body was transferred to Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
