A clearer photo of Vincent Ochieng has emerged days after the suspected armed robber was shot dead during a gun battle with detectives at his girlfriend’s house in Joska, Machakos County.
According to investigators, Ochieng was among the suspects linked to the recent armed robbery at ChaiWali Restaurant in Nairobi’s Westlands area, as well as several other violent robberies reported across the city.
During the operation, detectives recovered a firearm that had previously been reported stolen from Court of Appeal Judge Aggrey Muchelule, further strengthening investigations into the suspect’s alleged criminal activities.
Investigators link suspect to violent robberies
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) believes Ochieng was part of an organised criminal network responsible for a series of armed robberies targeting businesses and members of the public in Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
He was fatally wounded after allegedly opening fire on detectives during a raid at a house in Joska where he was reportedly hiding.
Flashy lifestyle masked alleged criminal activities
Despite the serious allegations against him, Ochieng reportedly maintained a lavish lifestyle that gave little indication of his alleged involvement in crime.
Friends and acquaintances largely viewed him as an ordinary young man who enjoyed an affluent lifestyle, making it difficult for many to suspect that he was allegedly connected to violent robberies under investigation.
Police continue pursuing other suspected members of the gang as investigations into the criminal network continue.
