The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially expelled nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba, citing gross misconduct and repeated violations of the party’s constitution and code of conduct.
In a press statement issued Monday, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar confirmed that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) unanimously approved the expulsion following recommendations from its Disciplinary Committee.
“After a comprehensive review of the Disciplinary Committee’s report and in line with Article 29 of the UDA Constitution, the NEC found Senator Orwoba’s actions incompatible with the values and objectives of the party,” stated Omar.
Orwoba was found guilty of making public remarks that allegedly damaged the party’s image and ignoring multiple summonses from the Disciplinary Committee. Instead of appearing in person, she opted to communicate through her lawyers, a move the party viewed as undermining internal dispute resolution processes.
UDA has written to both the Registrar of Political Parties and the Speaker of the Senate to formally initiate her removal as a nominated senator.
Senator Orwoba has yet to publicly respond to the expulsion.
