A tragic incident unfolded in Navakholo, Kakamega County, after a 49-year-old woman identified as Bradette Wesonga was fatally stabbed while attempting to break up a fight between two men allegedly clashing over a woman.
According to witnesses, Wesonga tried to intervene in the escalating altercation when one of the men turned violent and stabbed her in the neck.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.
The assailant fled the scene immediately after the stabbing but later surrendered to the local police station. Authorities have since taken him into custody as investigations continue.
Police are expected to prefer murder charges against the suspect once preliminary inquiries are complete.
