A police officer identified as Corporal Thomas Kiliswa has died after collapsing in his toilet in Naitiri, Kimilili sub-county, Bungoma County. The officer had been deployed to the area in preparation for his retirement, which was due in a year.
Police said the incident occurred on Sunday, when Kiliswa went to the toilet but failed to return.
According to a police report, his wife told police he had gone for a call of nature but failed to return. Concerned by the delay, the wife went to check on him and found him unconscious.
She raised an alarm, and Kiliswa was rushed to Jambos Medical Centre in Naitiri. He was later referred to Kiminini Cottage Hospital for specialised treatment after he failed to regain consciousness.
Unfortunately he died at the facility ,police said. His body has since been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as investigations into the cause of death.
