Popular Mugithi artiste Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, widely known as Samidoh, is facing a serious legal battle after a woman filed a constitutional petition accusing him of rape during his 2021 U.S. tour.
The woman, identified in court documents only as M.R.W., has sued several top state agencies, including:
- The Inspector General of Police
- The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
- The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)
- The Attorney General
- The Witness Protection Agency
According to her petition, the agencies failed to investigate or prosecute Samidoh over the alleged s£xual offence despite multiple reports. She claims her constitutional rights were violated due to this inaction.
Petition Invokes Sexual Offences Act
The petitioner argues that under the Sexual Offences Act, Kenyan authorities are empowered to prosecute citizens accused of committing s£xual crimes abroad. She therefore wants the High Court to compel the state to take immediate legal action against Samidoh.
Urgent Hearing Requested
In her court filing, M.R.W. has asked judges to treat her case as urgent and to hear it immediately, even during the ongoing court vacation.
The case now places Samidoh, a celebrated Mugithi star and police officer, under renewed public scrutiny as it tests Kenya’s commitment to cross-border justice in sexual offence cases.
