A 50-year-old woman was burned to death early Sunday morning after a fire engulfed a house in Muguga area, Kiambu County.

Police said the fire broke out at dawn, completely destroying the house before firefighters from the Kiambu County Fire Brigade managed to contain the blaze.

Four children who were inside the house at the time of the incident were rescued by neighbours and emergency responders and rushed to hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.

The cause of the fire had not been immediately established, police said, adding that investigations were underway to determine what sparked the incident.

The woman’s body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination and further procedures.

Authorities urged residents to observe fire safety measures, especially during night hours, to prevent similar tragedies.
