A man was on Monday arrested in Riontonyi area, Borabu Sub-county, Nyamira County, after allegedly causing the death of his two-year-old daughter during a domestic dispute with his wife.

Police said the incident occurred inside the family’s house following a heated quarrel between the couple. During the confrontation, the man is reported to have struck out with a wooden stick, accidentally hitting the child on the head.

The woman managed to flee the house for her safety. Moments later, police were alerted and rushed to the scene, where they found the toddler lying lifeless on the floor.

The child’s body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have taken the suspect into custody and said he will be arraigned to face murder charges as investigations continue.

Authorities condemned the incident, reiterating concerns over rising cases of domestic violence and its tragic impact on children.
