Police have arrested two suspects along the Northern Bypass after uncovering a butchery that was allegedly being used as a front for bhang distribution during a targeted raid.
Detectives arrested Paul Mwangi Karanja, the operator of East Butchery in the Marurui area, after investigations revealed the premises was being used to sell cannabis while evading detection. Police say the suspect disguised the illegal trade as a legitimate meat business.
During the operation, officers recovered a significant quantity of narcotics, including 81 rolls of bhang, 18 cannabis-laced cookies, 13 sim-sim rolls, and five small containers of mabuyu infused with cannabis.
In the same raid, detectives also arrested delivery rider Willinton Nadwa, who was allegedly caught delivering 14 rolls of bhang to the butchery at the time police moved in.
Police said all suspects have been taken into custody and will be arraigned in court, as investigations into the drug distribution network continue.
