Geoffrey Ruku has launched a sharp attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, insisting that President William Ruto does not need anyone’s permission to visit or oversee development projects in the Mt Kenya region.
Speaking during a church service at Livingstone Church and Mwamba Imara NICA Church in Embu, Ruku dismissed recent remarks by Gachagua urging Mt Kenya residents to “listen to President Ruto and let him go.”
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the statements were reckless and misleading.
Ruku argued that President Ruto was elected by Kenyans across the country and therefore has both the constitutional right and responsibility to tour any region of the country without political restrictions or intimidation from individuals.
He maintained that national development projects should not be politicised and urged leaders to focus on unity and service delivery instead of divisive rhetoric.
The remarks come amid growing political tensions in the Mt Kenya region following Gachagua’s recent criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration and his increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election.
