An autopsy conducted on the body of 19-year-old Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student Eugene Mutuku has revealed that he died from severe multiple body injuries and internal bleeding sustained after falling from a moving vehicle along Thika Road.
The post-mortem examination was carried out on Monday at the Kenyatta National Hospital Mortuary, shedding more light on the tragic circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
Eugene, who was pursuing his studies at KMTC Yatta Campus, was allegedly pushed out of a Nicco Sacco matatu during a journey along Thika Road. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he later succumbed while receiving treatment.
The incident has sparked public outrage and renewed concerns over passenger safety in the public transport sector.
Following the incident, the matatu involved was reportedly discovered abandoned in Nairobi’s Kariokor area. However, the driver and conductor who were operating the vehicle at the time remain on the run, with police intensifying efforts to track them down.
The deceased’s family has called for swift justice, urging investigators to conduct a thorough probe and ensure that all those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
In a related development, two directors of Nicco Transport Company were arraigned in court as investigations into the incident continue. Authorities say the search for the driver and conductor remains active as detectives work to establish the full circumstances that led to Eugene’s death.
The tragic loss has left family, friends and fellow students mourning a young life cut short under circumstances that many believe could have been prevented.
