Police in Likuyani Sub-County, Kakamega County, have launched a murder investigation after a 37-year-old man was found dead by the roadside near a church.

The deceased, identified as Mark Simiyu, was discovered lying along a road near Binyenya Catholic Church on Saturday morning.

Body Found by Roadside

According to police, the incident was reported by the deceased’s cousin, Abubakar, who told officers the body was found at around 9:30 a.m.

Police officers visited the scene, documented the area, and processed it as part of the investigation.

Police Classify Case as Murder

Preliminary findings revealed that Simiyu had blood oozing from his nose and bruises on his back, raising suspicion that he may have been assaulted before his death.

The body was moved to the Likuyani Sub-County Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Police have classified the incident as murder and have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
