Detectives are investigating a chilling incident in which a 62-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and daughter before dying by suicide in Saika, Nairobi County.
According to police reports, the bodies of Justus Wambua, his wife Tabitha Katheni Wambui, and their daughter Stacy Wambua, 25, were found inside their home on Saturday after relatives raised concerns over their unusual silence.
Bodies Found in Advanced State of Decomposition
When police gained entry into the house, they discovered Justus Wambua’s body hanging in the bathroom with a rope around his neck, while his wife’s body lay on the bed. Their daughter’s remains were found in another room, also showing signs of injury.
Authorities said the state of decomposition suggested that the deaths had occurred several days earlier, unnoticed by neighbors.
“The bodies appeared to have stayed at the scene for some time. Neighbours did not suspect anything until relatives came to check,” a police officer said.
Suicide Note Recovered
Detectives recovered a suicide note from the house, which has been taken for forensic analysis to determine its authenticity and whether it sheds light on the motive behind the killings.
Police indicated that one version of events being investigated is that Wambua may have returned home to find his wife and daughter dead, before taking his own life — though this remains unverified.
“We have information that he might have come home and found the two deceased before taking his own life, but we are still investigating the claims,” police said.
Investigations Ongoing
Both women’s bodies had visible injuries, prompting investigators to consider possible domestic violence or external involvement.
The bodies have been moved to the City Mortuary pending autopsy and forensic analysis.
Police say the full picture of what transpired will become clearer once postmortem results and handwriting analysis on the suicide note are complete.
