Detectives in Nairobi have launched investigations after the body of a man was found in a lodging in Eastleigh in what police suspect to be a suicide case.
Police identified the deceased as Ali Ahmed Shire, 33, a Somali national, who had checked into the lodging along Second Avenue, Eastleigh, on November 2, 2025.
According to police reports, Shire had booked the room for a week but failed to come out the following day, prompting concern from the hotel management.
Body Found Hanging from the Roof
The management said that after repeated knocks went unanswered, they forcibly opened the door and were met with a grim scene — Shire’s body was found slumped on the bed, with a bedsheet tied around his neck and hanging from the ceiling.
Police officers from the area arrived shortly afterward and moved the body to a local mortuary pending postmortem examination and burial arrangements.
Rising Suicide Cases
The motive behind the incident remains unclear. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the death.
Police statistics indicate that suicide cases have been on the rise across the country in recent months, with mental health experts calling for greater public awareness and support for people showing signs of distress.
