Deputy President Kithure Kindiki remains the most preferred running mate for President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to a new survey released by research firm Infotrak.
The poll places Prof. Kindiki at the top with a 34 per cent approval rating, giving him a significant lead over other leaders who have been mentioned as potential running mates.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga ranked second nationally with 11 per cent support, while Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga came third with 9 per cent.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula each registered 2 per cent support in the national ranking.
The survey also examined regional preferences, revealing that respondents largely favoured leaders from their own regions as President Ruto’s potential deputy.
In the Mt. Kenya region, Prof. Kindiki emerged as the overwhelming favourite, with 41 per cent of respondents backing him as the preferred running mate. Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was ranked second among leaders from the region.
In Nyanza, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga topped the list of preferred candidates, followed by Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga.
Meanwhile, respondents in the Western region identified Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as their preferred running mate, with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula emerging as the second choice.
The findings provide an early indication of public opinion as political parties continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, although no official running mate has been announced by President Ruto.
